Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Cleft Lip and Craniofacial Deformities (Centrare)

One of the largest centers in the country, the Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Cleft Lip and Craniofacial Deformities (Centrare) is a reference in the treatment of skull and face deformities. Also known as cleft lip, deformity that affects a large number of patients seen, the fissures in the region of the lip and palate are caused by the malformation of these structures when the child is still in pregnancy. It is a congenital disease, which affects 1 in every 650 children born in Brazil. Monitoring is carried out from pregnancy to adulthood. In addition to functional and aesthetic issues, psychological aspects are treated, such as self-esteem with the constant support of a dedicated team exclusively formed by a social worker, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, plastic surgeon, nurses, speech therapist, nutritionist, otorhinolaryngologist and psychologist.
